Mastering Midlife

  • What Do You Truly Want Most?

If a new moon isn’t enough to get you rebooted, maybe a Chinese New Year will help?  We just entered the year of the Red Fire Monkey and I have a feeling it will be a butt kicker!

So, since you’re going to get kicked into gear anyway, how can you be sure you’re in the right gear and heading in the best direction? Continue reading

  • "Houston, we have a problem..."

    doctor lollipop

Although it was beautiful outside, I spent this entire weekend indoors at the annual Albuquerque Health and Wellness Expo, presenting both our temperature-regulating clothing and the line of supplements that I both use and distribute.

Thousands of people showed up to do what smart consumers always try to do – shop for their best deal.  There were about a hundred different booths, including ours. The biggest draws by far were the insurance clearinghouses, because insurance is now both expensive and mandatory, and the outreach screenings and flu shots courtesy of the local hospital – something for nothing.   Continue reading

  • What the Heck is a Warrior Woman?

I began this year with a clear mandate from my spirit guides that I am not to hold back.  I’m to step up, speak my truth, sing my song, and be a leader.

Gulp.  That’s a tall order.  And I don’t know exactly what it all means yet.  It could take most of the year, if not longer, to process the message, develop a vision, and manifest it fully.

But I have accepted the task and spoken it aloud.  Of course, no one is handing me a cursed ring Continue reading

  • Clearing Away Sacred Clutter

I've entered the home stretch of the year, which always includes an action-packed run from
Thanksgiving through New Year's. It's a whirlwind of events that include my sons home for the holidays, gathering and storing food and wood, out of town guests and a convergence of Christian, Jewish, pagan and indigenous holidays. It's a time of year full of hustle, bustle, reunion and sharing with so many of the people I love, it merits my least favorite activity – cleaning! Continue reading

  • Practicing Unconditional Gratitude

I’m feeling a little gloomy and I don’t even know why.  It could be world events, or tiredness, or the fact that I strained a muscle in my back and I’m not invincible after all.  Maybe it was some downer patients today, although that doesn’t usually get me down.

There’s nothing major going on.  Life is good.  Really good.

It doesn’t matter why.  But it is a perfect time to practice gratitude.  Seriously, if you focus on what you’re grateful for, you will feel better—I promise.

    OK, here goes: Continue reading

  • Can We (Still) Talk?

I've had an interesting meltdown over the last week.  I just found out last night that my emails weren't reaching anyone unless they used the same hosting company that manages our web site--which is no one!  We still haven't gotten to the bottom of the problem, but that's boring technical stuff that someone else will handle... Continue reading

  • OMG, you have to try this!

    telling a secret

There’s something I haven’t been telling you.  I value my credibility and integrity above most everything, so I had to experience it for myself.  But I’m so sure now that this is real—and huge—that I have to share it with you nowContinue reading

  • Does the Devil Wear a Pink Ribbon?

Aside from being spectacularly beautiful in much of the US, October is breast cancer awareness month.  My most popular blog to date was the one I wrote last year at this time called Why I Don’t Wear a Pink Ribbon.  It was a rant about how we’ve all been duped into believing that a pink ribbon supports women with breast cancer or breast cancer prevention when in fact it’s really a corporate gimmick supporting a mammogram industry that has become falsely synonymous with early detection, prevention, and saving lives.  Continue reading

  • The Moon, the Sun and The Earth are in Perfect Alignment—Are You?

I function best when my head is on straight.  I know, duh!  But really, when my neck and head are out of alignment, I get whopper headaches.  Stress, weird sleeping positions, and awkward movements can all throw out my neck and I don’t know what I’d do without a really talented chiropractor.  But I think I discovered something this week: it’s the little things that can really mess me up.  And I’m thinking it’s probably true for all of us. Continue reading

  • Creating Intimacy via Technology

cat-computerNo, I don’t mean sexting or on-line dating!  I’m talking about really getting to know and understand people at a distance. Continue reading
